Wrong Ziproxy reload script in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) [FIXED]

Today i make some Ziproxy configuration changes and try to restart it by standard command
/etc/init.d/ziproxy restart
Restarting ziproxy: FATAL ERROR (daemon): The PID file already exists!
Daemon is either running already, or a previous process crashed.
The PID file is: /var/run/ziproxy.pid

But if i use start/stop commands — Ziproxy stops and runs successfully.
So i look inside init-script and make some changes:

echo -n «Restarting $DESC: »
start-stop-daemon —stop —quiet —pidfile $PIDFILE —exec $DAEMON
[ -f $PIDFILE ] && rm $PIDFILE
[ -n «$DODTIME» ] && sleep $DODTIME

start-stop-daemon —start —quiet —pidfile $PIDFILE —exec $DAEMON — $DAEMON_OPTS
echo «$NAME.»

after all — now Ziproxy correctly restarts 🙂

Wrong used disk space in OpenVZ container [FIXED]

24 февраля 2012 Нет комментариев

After i did make a migration of OpenVZ VE i found a strange bug:
[sh]df -h
total used free
10G 10M 9.9G
but i know what VE is used more than 5 Gb of disk space.

Found next solution:
[sh]# stop the ct:
% vzctl stop

# check space on hardwarenode
% du -sh /vz/private/

# check qouta file
% vzquota show

# drop qouta entries from file
% vzquota drop

# (re-)start ct / reinit quota
% vzctl start

CentOS 6 + OpenVZ updating problem

10 февраля 2012 Нет комментариев

I have OpenVZ installed on top of CentOS 6. Some time age i have a strange message after type:
[sh]yum update[/sh]

[sh]Error: Package: kernel-2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 (updates)
Requires: kernel-firmware >= 2.6.32-220.2.1.el6
Installed: vzkernel-firmware-2.6.32-042stab044.11.noarch (@openvz-kernel-rhel6)
kernel-firmware = 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6
Available: kernel-firmware-2.6.32-220.el6.noarch (base)
kernel-firmware = 2.6.32-220.el6
Available: kernel-firmware-2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.noarch (updates)
kernel-firmware = 2.6.32-220.2.1.el6
You could try using —skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va —nofiles —nodigest[/sh]

So googling is gets me next link: http://bugzilla.openvz.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2129

and a problem solution. This is because i have 2 kernels: OpenVZ kernel and standard Linux kernel. Because i do not need for linux kernel so i just remove standard kernel and what’s work!

yum remove kernel*
yum update
